Course Details
Our CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools award has been designed to teach students the fundamentals required to work in a school environment and support teachers. This course is ideal for those already working in a school environment in roles such as Teaching Assistants, Classroom Assistants and Learning Support Assistants.
As you progress through the course materials you will cover a wide range of subject areas which will include child and young person development, safeguarding children, communication skills, equality, diversity and inclusion in work with young people, help team practice in schools, schools as organisations and support assessment for learning amongst others.
This can be a hugely rewarding career as you see the results of your input when children achieve their full potential.
Students will need to be working or volunteering in a school environment as they will be required to display competence in knowledge and skills.
Qualifications
On successful completion of the course you will receive the CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (QCF) qualification. Our Support Work in Schools qualification is listed on the QCF.
Who is CACHE?
CACHE is the UK’s only specialist organisation to design courses and qualifications in the education and care of children sector. CACHE has designed courses that cover from entry level to advanced level for child care professionals. They work in conjunction with the Sector Skills Council to maintain high quality standards and excellent customer service.

Study Details
Your Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools course is broken down into 3 main groups. Group A contains 9 study modules, Group B contains 1 study module and Group C contains 1 study module. Each module is worth set amounts of credits that total 31 credits (see Syllabus). You must achieve 30 credits to successfully complete the course.
Assessment Method
When you complete each study module you will be required to complete an assignment which should be submitted to your personal tutor for assessment. By submitting your assignments to your tutor, your progress is continually monitored and the tutor is able to provide you with feedback and assistance throughout your studies.
Study Options
Distance learning is meant to provide students with flexibility and Home Learning Course wants your learning experience to be as convenient as possible. Therefore, we are able to offer two methods of study:
- Traditional paper-based learning (via the post)
- Online learning (all materials exchanged electronically)
Based on previous students’ experiences, we anticipate that it will take the average student approximately 187 hours to complete the course.
Careers
You will notice that gaining the CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (QCF) qualification will enhance your CV and stand out more to potential employees.
